What is the difference between .com an .ca domains in terms of business?
I am looking to buy a domain name for my business, but the problem I am encountering is that the name that I would like is only available under the .ca domain and not the .com domain, and this brings me to some questions:
1. How much will the International .com domain affect my business over the Canadian .ca domain in terms of quarries made on search engines and international recognition?
2. Is there any way to check the traffic of a certain word through search engines such as Google to see how popular my domain name would be?
How to point several empty domains (30) to one site?
I have a client wanting to point several empty domains (30) to a main site. From what I am researching, this seems to be a spamming techinique. But other information I come up with says that putting a 301 re-direct on each of these domains to the main site would be ok. The empty domains are just parked domains at the moment with no content. What is the best way to do this without getting bumped from the seearch engines?

I am looking to purchasing a 10 year hosting plan which saves me ~400$ over the 10 years as opposed to the renewing the plan every year. Are there any downsides to this?
